A Playbook for Effective Time Management

Have we led you astray by this title?

Perhaps... because the truth is, there isn’t one path toward effective time management or one type of leader that excels at making the most of their time. The truth lay somewhere in the middle- the middle of lists, papers, paperclips, highlighters - in the middle of the flurry of to-dos that confront each startup and entrepreneur.

Never fear - the good news is that habits can be learned, and certain habits propel you forward on your path to success and creating the Playbook that’s right for YOUR startup.

Phew just in the nick of time… ;)

Sweat Equity

Cut yourself a break and realize that success in startups is hard work. Everything you see on social media is not true and you can’t hold your startups’ success hostage by comparing where you are on your timeline to your peers.

Put the work in ahead of time to create clarity in vision and momentum in purpose.

If this looks like multicolored calendars and to do lists - GREAT.

If it looks like long term and short-term strategy sessions each day - AWESOME.

If it looks like both together- then you WIN at being the master of time management, just kidding, it’s not a race.

Find Your People

Okay, so you’ve made your lists, you’ve color coded your to-dos. You've mapped out the days and times where each task can optimally be done anddddd voila - you only need 29 hours in the day to get it accomplished.

This is where the next play out of the proverbial playbook comes... well... into play-see what I did there??? I digress.

Finding your people elevates your time management savvy in impactful ways. Feeling free and confident to delegate certain tasks is a must some days to get all those to-dos completed effectively and efficiently.

It also never hurts to surround yourself with all styles of space, time continuum masters. Having task masters that compliment your style could be great and also having your clone could be what you need to succeed, finding those people that propel you and your time management forward is the ultimate goal.

Find your peeps and create your culture.

Celebrate Success

Sure, crossing each item off your list can be its own reward but day after day, list after list can leave you feeling hollow. You’ve conquered the world and yet what have you really accomplished if the next day just begins with a clean slate again?

Successes can never be too small to celebrate and that celebration keeps you on task and able to manage your time more effectively and with more passion.

You answered that email you’ve been avoiding. YAYYYYYY!!!

You created those social assets for the week. LET'S EAT CAKE!!!!

Whatever the completed task there is no playbook for success.

We make our own rules in 2023 and no feat is too big or small, it’s a success, your day is a success, and YOU MATTER!!!
