Zero to One: Trends in Gaming Innovation

Multiplayer gaming technology has come a long way since the Gauntlet and Mario Kart (Rainbow Road all the way) of yesteryear; with the advancement of technology, developers are now able to create games with more immersive and realistic user experiences.

Cross platform gaming, competitive multiplayer mobile gaming and blockchain-based gaming alongside operation in the metaverse- have us seeing continued innovation and increased user experience that is out of this world- virtual or otherwise; Diablo and Fortnite here we come!

Multiple Realities

Virtual Reality and Augmented reality are two of the most cutting-edge technologies that are transforming the way we interact with our environment. They both offer an immersive gaming experience, while also providing an opportunity to explore new ways of interacting with technology; V.R. is a computer-generated 3D environment, while A.R. is a more immersive and interactive version of Virtual Reality.

Zero to One

David A. Smith, CTO of Croquet Corporation and innovators alike are looking for ways to push the boundaries of what is possible in terms of long-term innovation, cutting-edge features, and game mechanics that make the most out of an operating system aimed at providing interoperable, cross-platform functionality to facilitate the rise of the spatial communications platform.

His OS for Metaverse is truly a zero to one idea: in Peter Thiel's book, Zero to One he advocates that entrepreneurs build something unique, something that completely changes the market, rather than building something that is incrementally better than an existing solution.

Smith believes in his OS, the feather in his cap, so fully that he launched a free Metaverse Web Showcase, a fully immersive multi user Metaverse world that can be embedded interoperably in any 2D website in less than 15 minutes and currently Croquet OS is the only open, browser-based operating system that unites the web and the Metaverse.

Whether it be the Metaverse or Microverse the world of multiplayer gaming is in uncharted territories and moving rapidly forward with sonic speed- Sonic and Knuckles  that is (the only multiplayer version of the classic SEGA game).

The future of multiplayer gaming tech is filled with possibilities and opportunities for new innovation.
